By cutting a notch in the black edging you can still continue with the edging as if the tree root was never there: Keep going the entire edge of your plantings area until you come to a giant tree root! There was no removing this root so I had to work around it. Stone pavers, metal edging, or treated lumber are all great options. First, it travels, so you’ll need to have a solid border or edging material to make sure it stays contained.
